Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1 –3 Buhoma Lodge, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
A wonderful scenic flight takes you from Entebbe to Kihihi airstrip and from here a road transfer takes you to beautiful Buhoma Lodge located within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – a World Heritage site. This park with its rich–ecosystem derives its name from its thick vegetation with an immense variety of evergreen trees, festooned with lianas, epiphytes, which reach great heights in their search for sunlight and is known to host half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas.
Day 2 GORILLA TRACKING – enter the forest and start your gorilla trek – families can be anything from a 45minute walk to several hours hike away. Coming face to face with an endangered mountain gorilla is truly humbling and something words cannot aptly describe – the thrill of the hour spent observing these intelligent, gentle giants is well worth the hike to get there! After a truly rewarding and memorable day, return to your cosy lodge.
Day 3 gives you a chance for further gorilla tracking or perhaps explore the Bwindi area with optional activities including forest walks to spot other wildlife and some of the bird species, visit a nearby school/hospital or a trip to the Baywa pygmy village.
Day 4 Entebbe – Tour Ends
Morning flight to Entebbe – with the flight approx 1h30mins. No international departure flights prior to 17h00.
