Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1 Windhoek
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be collected and transferred to your accommodation in the city, depending on time of arrival, perhaps join optional 3hour City and Township Tour, or relax around the pool
Day 2&3 Dead Valley Lodge
Departing Windhoek our first two nights are spent at Dead Valley Lodge inside the Namib Naukluft National Park home to the spectacular Sossusvlei – enjoy a guided tour exploring the towering and iconic red dunes in one of the world’s oldest and most arid regions. Climb a dune surrounding Sossusvlei and experience the ancient skeletal trees in Dead Vlei with its shimmering white pan with back–drop of apricot sand dunes and blue sky
Day 4& 5 The Delight, Swakopmund
Today, we explore the ice–blue Atlantic coast, from the port town of Walvis Bay and lagoon area before continuing to Swakopmund where your guide will take you on a short tour of the town. Day 5 is free to explore the town further or join an optional activity such as a marine cruise, half day Sandwich Harbour trip, or one of the many adventurous activities available. Perhaps head to some of the nearby curio shops to buy gifts for loved ones at home
Day 6&7 Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp, Damaraland
Continuing our journey, we head to the remote and unimaginable vastness of Damaraland where we are based in a private area around Damaraland in the heart of a rocky desert and part of an ancient glacial landscape. Our two nights are spent in an adventurer camp amongst spectacular scenery visiting Twyfelfontein rock etchings and heading into the nearby dry river bed on a nature drive to search for desert elephant.
Day 8 Okaukuejo Resort NWR, Etosha National Park
Today make our way to way to Etosha National park entering via Galton Gate and game driving across the park to Okaukuejo enjoying spotting of the animals and the changing terrain from rocky hills to savannah, woodland and open plains arriving late afternoon. This evening there is time to enjoy the floodlit waterhole.
Day 9 Onguma Private Reserve, Etosha National Park
Game drive across the park to the east aspect, maximizing our chances for amazing wildlife sightings as we head to the east of Etosha enabling us to experience a variety of habitats and the chance to spot more animals, stopping from waterhole to waterhole (these are more active in winter months), as they support a rich diversity of animals.
These waterholes are one of the most unique aspects of Etosha National Park, and a major attraction for wildlife photographers and animal behaviour experts as the different species of animals, both predator and prey alike, can often be captured (on camera) drinking at the same waterhole, depart later in the afternoon and turn into Onguma Reserve, which borders Etosha via Fischers Pan
Day 10 Windhoek – End of safari
After an early breakfast this morning we head out onto the reserve on our last game drive, joining an Onguma ranger in an open vehicle. Onguma covers 34,000 hectares of Namibian wilderness & is home to numerous plains game, more than 300 bird species , and even 4 of the Big 5. Lions and Cheetahs are frequently seen and often heard and there is a healthy black rhino, leopard, and hyena population so you never know what we might spot. Return to Windhoek arriving later in the afternoon.
